ABOUT

About us

Melbourne fashion designer and ex-Anna Campbell Assistant Director, Tommika Valente, has teamed up with friend, former colleague and manufacturing whizz, Angelo Evangelou, to co-found fashion label, Anto Apparel. Owned, designed and made in Melbourne, the collection is aimed at women of all ages, shapes and sizes, consciously designed, and locally sourced and manufactured at their studio in Reservoir.

Launched in January 2021, Anto Apparel, named after its two founders, offers sizes 8-20 for anyone aged 20 to 70, creating elegant, everyday clothing to suit a modern lifestyle without the expensive price tag.

Meet our co-founder and designer

Co-founder and Creative Director, Tommika, brings over 10 years’ experience in the fashion industry, completing a bachelor’s degree at The Whitehouse Institute of Design before going on to work for one of Melbourne’s premier wedding dress designers, Anna Campbell. Starting as Production Assistant, Tommika worked her through the ranks from hand sewing, designing and sourcing fabrics to selling at New York Bridal Fashion Week. She then went on to become Assistant Director where she managed everything from retail and studio production to wholesale and marketing. This was also where she met Angelo who was the designer’s Melbourne manufacturer.

Tommika says, “After years of experience in fashion, I was determined to make my own mark on the industry and develop my passion for high quality design and textiles. Angelo and I have created a label we are proud of, where we can locally source and manufacture fabrics from right in the heart of Melbourne. Our designs are timeless and minimal, yet modern, with pieces for every body shape and size, and created to last – without ending up in landfill!”

Our Values

Each piece from the boutique collection is individually hand cut and sewn with minimal wastage – using discarded fabrics or locally sourced materials with a focus on sustainability. Anto Apparel is especially passionate about supporting the local fashion and manufacturing industry, employing staff from in and around Melbourne, from fabric cutters to machinists and production managers to make ethical fashion for women who can change the world.
